The Addicks have been chasing Bouazza all summer with boss Alan Pardew making an offer a month ago but Hodgson wanted to asses the player before making his decision.
Now though, Hodgson has allowed Bouazza to leave Craven Cottage and the Algerian international should be available for Charlton's opening fixture against Swansea City.
The signing of Bouazza will come as some relief to the Charlton faithful who have already seen Marcus Bent and Madjid Bougherra move on, with Chinese playmaker Zheng Zhi also likely to leave before the transfer deadline.
Bouazza had also been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic while Spanish duo Espanyol and Osasuna were also credited with an interest but the player has chosen to stay in London.
