Addicks star in Baggies sights

CharltonWest Brom boss Tony Mowbray is hoping to hijack Real Betis' move for Charlton defender Madjid Bougherra.

The Spanish side have been in talks with Charlton about buying the 25-year-old and Addicks boss Alan Pardew said on Monday that he expects the player to leave the Valley.

He said: "Real Betis have been in the frame for a long while with Madjid.

"They still are and Madjid will probably be sold.

"I expect to lose him, not because I want to, but because I have to."

Charlton are looking for around £2million for the 22-cap French-born Algerian international and Mowbray, who has already confirmed he wants to strengthen his backline, would be able to finance such a move.
