Charlton in takeover talks

Last Updated: Sat, 28 Dec 2013 12:58

Charlton have announced that takeover talks are currently taking place with Belgian millionaire and political activist Roland Duchatelet.

The takeover follows the collapse last month of a proposed purchase of the club by American sports franchise owner Josh Harris after talks had reached an advanced stage.

The 67-year-old Duchatelet is reported to have paid a cut-price B£14million for the London club.

Addicks chairman Michael Slater confirmed the news on the club's official website on Saturday, stating: "Very constructive discussions are ongoing which we hope to conclude soon."

The Sky Bet Championship club are currently sixth bottom - just four points off the relegation zone after recording one win in their last six league matches ahead of Sunday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
