Defender leaves The Valley

CharltonCrystal Palace have completed the signing of Charlton defender Paddy McCarthy, after just one season at The Valley.

The Eagles have agreed a £500,000 move for the Republic of Ireland defender, who has been on Palace boss Neil Warnock's radar for a number of years.

McCarthy will replace former Eagles Mark Hudson, who moved to the Valley on a free transfer earlier in the summer.

Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser: "I'm delighted to finally have him here. I've tried to sign him three or four times and I didn't think I would get him."
