Double Valley departure

CharltonAmdy Faye has left Charlton to join Stoke on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee and Jerome Thomas has joined Portsmouth on loan.

Faye, who enjoyed a successful trial and played for the Premier League new boys Stoke in their pre-season friendly against Osasuna last week, has agreed a 12-month contract at the Britannia Stadium. The Senegal international becomes Potters boss Tony Pulis' fourth summer signing and he is pleased with the acquisition, while the Addicks felt it was a good move for everyone involved.

"He's a very strong and athletic lad, and he has important experience at the top level we can call upon," Pulis told the club's official website.

"I've liked the look of him in training and also liked his attitude in the few days he's been with us.

"I think he did well in the short time he was on the pitch in last week's friendly against Osasuna."

Addicks chief executive Steve Waggott told the club's official website: "It's a good deal for both the club financially and for Amdy, who I'm sure will figure in the Stoke squad on a regular basis."

Meanwhile wing man Thomas has also moved out of the Valley to join FA Cup holders Pompey on a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch.

"Jerome's a young player that Harry has always liked - a quick, wide player who is a good addition to the squad," Pompey's chief executive Peter Storrie told the club's official website.

"The idea is that he comes here and proves himself. If he plays to the ability we all know he has then he has a great chance of staying here longer, so it's in his hands.

"Harry [Redknapp] has been looking to add a quick, wide player, something that's important when you've got someone like Crouchy up front."
