Charlton midfielder Matt Spring insists he is happy to stay at the club and fight for his place in Phil Parkinson's team.

The former Leeds midfielder has struggled for opportunities at the Valley this season, making only seven starts but says he will only leave the Valley if he's told his services are no longer required.

However, Spring says he would consider a short-term loan move if Parkinson approved.

"If the gaffer came to me and said it is probably better if you go out and get some games, then I'd give it a go, but as far as I am aware I am needed here.

"It is frustrating, but I'm not one to moan about being left out of the side. I prefer to work hard in training and wait for my chance to show what I can do when selected."
