New boy aims high

CharltonNew signing Stuart Fleetwood has vowed to be a success at Charlton and has also targeted a call up to the senior Wales side.

The highly-rated 22-year-old joined the Addicks yesterday from Forest Green Rovers and is hoping to make an immediate impact with the club in the Championship next season.

If he can do that then the player hopes he will have done enough to make the step up from the Wales under-21s to the senior squad.

"I am desperate to do well for Charlton and if I do, with any luck I'll get a call-up to the Wales squad," Fleetwood told the South London Press. "I am so relieved to have finally sorted out the move to Charlton.

"There had been a lot of rumours in the press for quite some time and everyone was asking me about it. To finally sign on the dotted line is a weight off my shoulders.

"I know there will be a lot of competition at the club but the thought of representing Wales is an extra incentive for me. I played for the semi-pro Wales side last year and that was brilliant, so hopefully I can go one better and get a call-up to the full squad this season.

"But that will only happen if I do well for Charlton - they are my main priority. An international call-up would just be a bonus."
