Pardew expects transfers

CharltonCharlton boss Alan Pardew has admitted he expects to see more players come and go ahead of the Addicks opening match against Swansea.

Pardew has confirmed the club have received a 'substantial bid' for China captain Zheng Zhi and should the midfielder leave Pardew doesn't expect the changes to end there.

He said : "I'm pretty close to picking my team (for the Swansea game) but there might be an outside chance of one or two bodies coming in this week. A lot of it comes down to finance - we've got players who want to come but finances are tight."

It's been a busy summer for the Charlton boss who has seen some of his star players leave.

Marcus Bent and Madjid Bougherra have both moved on and with Zheng likely to join them, it leaves Pardew with a weaker squad than the team he had at his dispossal last season.

There is a glimmer of hope for the Addicks though as they continue their pursuit of Portsmouth defender Martin Craine but it would seem that Zheng is certain to be playing his football elsewhere next season.
