Pards resigned to star sales

CharltonAlan Pardew is resigned to losing Madjid Bougherra to Real Betis and also expects to sell other players before the big kick-off.

The Charlton boss is resigned to losing the Algerian international, who has been attracting interest from Betis all summer, and it is thought a deal is on the verge of going through.

Pardew told the club's website: "Real Betis have been in the frame for a long while with Madjid. They still are and Madjid will probably be sold, I think."

Meanwhile, Pardew says Bougherra may not be the only player leaving the Valley.

"I expect to lose a couple more players, not because I want to, but because I have to," Pardew added. "Hopefully, I'll be able to bring in a couple to replace them, but whether I can bring players in of the same level remains to be seen.

"Some contact has been made and we are waiting for answers from clubs. There is nothing concrete and I don't expect anything to effectively happen in the next two or three days."
