The young striker arrives at The Valley from Sunderland on an initial one-month loan deal and looks certain to start against Sheffield United this weekend.
Pardew told the official website: "He's a player who first caught my eye in the youth cup game here last season. He has outstanding qualities and we have tracked him from that period.
"This is a big step in his development for what could be a top player, and we hope that the benefits of his loan spell will be mutual.
"We felt it was important to bring in someone fresh now the group has got two solid performances behind us. He is quick and strong and is fully committed, and also has infectious enthusiasm as a striker."
