Charlton boss Phil Parkinson was pleased with his side's performance against Walsall despite losing ground in the promotion chase.

Walsall took the lead against Charlton before the Addicks equalised to secure a 1-1 draw, leaving the Addicks four points adrift of second-placed Leeds in the League One table.

However, Parkinson was pleased with his side's display and felt on another day Charlton could have taken all three points.

He said: "We dominated for long periods of the game and you expect to come away with three points, but we conceded a goal against the run of play.

"We got back into the game and in the second half played with a lot of good energy and good delivery into the box and I couldn't ask any more from the boys. I saw Walsall playing Norwich a couple of weeks ago and they were excellent, so we expected a tough game."
