Powell keen to build on Rovers win

Charlton boss Chris Powell hopes Saturday's 1-0 win at Blackburn has got their season up and running.

The Addicks secured only their second win of the campaign, and their first on the road since April, thanks to a goal from Wales international Simon Church.

"Any manager will tell you when you win a game of football it's relief, because of the pressure we are all put under," said Powell.

"We know that's what the job entails.

"We are trying to build on what we have done over the past two seasons and although this season hasn't started as we would have wanted we've kept our belief.

"I've kept my counsel and all I've done is try to get the right team out there and all 14 that were involved and played deserved the three points for their efforts."
