Primus deal collapses

CharltonPortsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has called off Linvoy Primus' switch to Charlton after a disagreement over the loan length.

The veteran centre-back - who only recently signed a new one-year deal at Fratton Park - was today expected at The Valley to seal a season-long loan move with the Premier League hopefuls.

However, Fratton Park boss Redknapp was unhappy with the length of the arrangement and Charlton must now look for an alternative to fill the void left by Madjid Bougherra's departure to Rangers.

Redknapp insisted after Monday's Manchester United defeat he is only happy for fit-again Primus to go out on loan until December as he looks to build up his match fitness following a serious knee injury.
