Rival striker swoop ruled out

Charlton have denied reports linking Chris Iwelumo with Crystal Palace but have to sell before they can buy anyone else.

The striker has been linked with a £600,000 move to the Eagles, but chairman Richard Murray says he is unaware of any interest from the club's rivals.

"No, I haven't heard anything about any deal for Chris at all," Murray revealed.

However, Murray has admitted that players will have to be shipped out before boss Alan Pardew can draft in new recruits this summer.

"We are in a position where we will be selling before we can buy," the chairman added.
