Star set for Baggies switch

CharltonWest Brom have reportedly won the race to sign Chinese midfielder Zheng Zhi after agreeing a £2.5million fee with Charlton.

Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has been chasing the highly-rated 28-year-old for most of the summer, but has been made to wait while Zhi featured for his country at the Beijing Olympics.

However, following his return to England after China's elimination from the football tournament last week, Addicks boss Alan Pardew confirmed that Zhi would be sold to help balance the books at the Championship side.

It is now being reported in the Mirror that the player is heading for the Hawthorns after a fee was agreed between the Addicks and Albion on Monday.

The move should be made official once Zhi has completed a medical at the Black Country outfit.
