Striker issues Addicks pledge

CharltonStuart Fleetwood admits competition for places at Charlton will be fierce but is determined to become a regular starter in the team.

The 22-year-old has penned a three-year deal after signing from Forest Green Rovers but will have Andy Gray, Svetoslav Todorov, Chris Iwelumo, Luke Varney and Chris Dickson ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite the strong competition Fleetwood says he is up for the challenge and is determined to prove his worth.

"There are a lot of good strikers at the club and the management really want me to be pushing them for a first-team place," he said. "If I do force my way in, I'll be working really hard to keep my place. I'm looking forward to it, it's a great challenge and I can't wait to get going.

"First of all I want to have a good pre-season, get settled in and get my bearings. I want to be pushing for a first-team place and I'll be working as hard as I can to make sure that happens."
