Striker issues Addicks pledge

CharltonMartyn Waghorn says he is desperate to play for Charlton this weekend and has vowed to fire the Addicks up the table.

The young striker has arrived on loan from Sunderland and hopes to get his first start for the club when they take on Sheffield United looking for crucial points this weekend.

Waghorn looks certain to start and hopes to get among the goals if he does.

"I feel really good and I'm desperate to play some part on Saturday," Waghorn told the South London Press. "If it turns out that I am only here for a month then my aim is to play as many games as I can.

"I will work as hard as possible and I hope I can help the team climb up the table because this is a really big club. It would be good to score in every game that I play in - that has to be any striker's target.

"But I won't mind if I set up team-mates instead - if I do that then it will show that I have more to my game than just scoring goals."
