We could start next week - Pardew

Alan Pardew says he is very impressed with his Charlton squad's fitness on their return to pre-season training this week.

The Addicks were given a summer training programme to keep them ticking over before their pre-season campaign, and it would appear the whole squad have followed the instructions.

Speaking to the club's website, Pardew said: "The boys have come back in terrific shape and in all honesty we could play a league game in 10 days time, that's how well we look.

"There's obviously a lot of tactical work to do but the boys are in great shape and they've all done their summer programmes."
