Anelka reveals Chelsea stance

ChelseaNicolas Anelka says he will play as an out-and-out striker next season and has vowed to be a success at Chelsea.

The striker struggled at Stamford Bridge last season after joining from Bolton Wanderers in a deal worth £15million during the January transfer window and is keen to bounce back in this campaign.

Anelka feels he was played out of position by former boss Avram Grant and is hoping to play up front now that Luiz Felipe Scolari is in charge.

"It's just good for me to play up front, because last season I played in midfield, on the right or the left. So I am happy," Anelka told the Daily Star.

"I think the manager understands me. I had never played on the right or the left before since I came to England, so it was new for me.

"It was a difficult moment, because when you come to a new club, you want to play in your position and you want success. When I came on in games I didn't have a chance to show what I can do. Then I would play maybe for only five or 10 minutes. The boss hasn't talked to me specifically about what he wants from me.

"I have played in English football so I know what I want - I want to play in my position and I know how to do it. He doesn't have to speak to me. But he wants me to play as a striker."
