Barcelona are believed to be considering a summer swoop for Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany, instead of Chelsea's David Luiz.
With veteran centre-back Carles Puyol coming towards the end of his career at the Camp Nou, the Catalan outfit are eying a long-term replacement for the 34-year-old, and Luiz is one of the players to be linked with a move.
However Kompany is also thought to be one of the players high on Barca's wishlist, having emerged as one of the top defenders in the Premier League after making the switch from Hamburg in 2008.
Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels and Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen are also thought to be targeted by Barca but it's believed the Spanish giants will target Kompany first this summer before looking at other options, including Luiz.
