Bayern chief rules out Luiz raid

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that they do not want to sign Chelsea defender David Luiz.

The 26-year-old Brazilian centre-half, who joined the Blues from Benfica for 25 million euros in summer 2011, has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout the course of this season, due to him failing to hold down a regular place in boss Jose Mourinho's starting XI.

Spanish giants Barcelona have already been identified as one potential suitor, while reigning European and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are the latest top club to be linked.

However Rummenigge spoke out to play down the rumours while he revealed that the club are pinning their hopes on Holger Badstuber returning from injury to bolster Pep Guardiola's options at the Allianz Arena in the second half of the season.

On Luiz, he said: "There's always lots of speculation and it's extreme in England, but I can say for certain that he is not an issue for us.

"I personally hope that Holger Badstuber comes back (from injury). That would be a new arrival who would do Bayern a lot of good.

"He's a great lad and an important player for us."
