Laurent Blanc is the latest name to be linked with the Chelsea job as Roberto Di Matteo is kept in the dark over his future.
Di Matteo has turned things around at Stamford Bridge after being put in caretaker charge following the departure of Andre Villa-Boas and the Blues are now just 90 minutes away from a Champions League semi-final.
Chelsea are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup, while Frank Lampard is the latest player to speak highly of the Italian for steadying the sinking ship at Stamford Bridge.
Di Matteo would jump at the chance to take the job on a permanent basis but it is thought that Roman Abramovich is still targeting a more high-profile appointment and Blanc has been added to his list.
The Frenchman will step down as manager of the national team after the European Championships this summer and Abramovich could make an approach if he fails to land one of his top two targets, Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.
Much depends on what happen between now and the end of the season but it could be the only chance Di Matteo has if he goes on to win the Champions League after Avram Grant, who was losing finalist, still got axed.
