Blues ace leaves for Lazio

Last Updated: Sat, 01 Feb 2014 08:29

Chelsea allowed winger Gael Kakuta to join Italian side Lazio on loan until the end of the season ahead of Friday night's deadline.

The 22-year-old versatile French forward has always struggled for first-team action at Stamford Bridge since joining the Blues from Lens back in 2007.

Kakuta made his debut against Wolves in 2009 and has gone on to make just 16 first-team appearances, while he has spent time on loan with Fulham and Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League, and with Dijon in France.

More recently Kakuta, who was part of the France Under-19 side that won the 2010 European Championships, has been on loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for the past season and a half.

His fifth loan move sees him link with Rome outfit Lazio where he will hope to feature heavily in their final 17 Serie A games of this current season and help them progress up the table for their current position of tenth.
