Blues back in for Modric

Chelsea are set to make another move for Luka Modric who will leave Tottenham in the summer if they miss out on the top four.

Chelsea tried and failed with a number of bids last summer after Tottenham refused to sell, much to the frustration of Modric, who at the time was keen to move to Stamford Bridge.

To keep the player sweet, Spurs officials told him he would be allowed to leave White Hart Lane if they failed to qualify for the Champions League and that now looks like a very real possibility.

Chelsea themselves could miss out on the top four and will not be in the competition next season unless they go on to win it this year, but Modric could still fancy a move to the Bridge.

Whether Tottenham stand by the verbal agreement remains to be seen but it looks as though they will face another summer of battling to keep hold of the Croatian if they miss out on Europe's elite competition.
