Blues chief reveals striker stay hopes

ChelseaChairman Bruce Buck insists Chelsea want striker Didier Drogba to stay at Stamford Bridge and are planning key future talks with him.

The Ivory Coast international frontman has been linked with a move to AC Milan following the Champions League final penalty shoot-out defeat against Manchester United.

Drogba left the field in disgrace in Moscow on Wednesday, having been sent off in extra time for stupidly slapping Nemanja Vidic in the face.

It is not the first time Drogba has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge as he was quoted saying he wanted to leave when former boss Jose Mourinho departed last September.

However Buck says the Blues are not willing to let Drogba drift out of the club without a fight and they will discuss his future in the near future.

"There have been some comments reportedly made by Didier over the last year that maybe he would like to leave Chelsea," he told Chelsea TV. "On most occasions he has said that he has been misquoted.

"Now that the season is over, we have to sit down with him and see what the story is and what his future is.

"He is a great player, I hope he stays, but that is a decision the club and Didier will have to make collectively.

"This year he has had some niggling injuries, but we know he can change the course of a game, as he nearly did in Moscow."
