Manchester City have been told Chelsea captain John Terry is not for sale after making a second bid for the defender.
Eastlands chief Mark Hughes is a big fan of the England skipper and made an approach last season which led to Terry releasing a statement pledging his future to Stamford Bridge.
And now his club have followed suit in a bid to finally end City's interest in the 28-year-old who would have been a straight replacement if Richard Dunne moves on this summer.
Chelsea said on their website: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has completely rejected an offer from Manchester City for John Terry.
"It was made clear to City, for the second time following an approach last season, that we would not entertain any conversation on the subject."
