Chelsea are keeping an eye on developments at Inter Milan as the Italians struggle to agree a new deal with Maicon.

The Blues are known to be very keen on the Brazilian right-back after they missed out on the signing of Glen Johnson from Portsmouth but Inter are keen to keep hold.

The Italian champions are keen to tie him down to a new contract in an attempt to fight off Chelsea's interest but the player's demands are a problem according to president Massimo Moratti.

"We have not undervalued him," Moratti revealed. "We consider Maicon for the value that he has. It wasn't difficult to predict that Maicon would become the strongest right-back.

"We have seen this for the last three years and his merit has contributed to our success. His demands? These are issues for the club."

Chelsea are monitoring developments closely and are ready to pounce at the first sign of the player being made available.
