Blues hold Terry back

Rafa Benitez is unlikely to risk John Terry in this weekend's clash against Stoke despite him stepping up his return to fitness.

The Chelsea skipper, who has been on the sidelines for the last six weeks with a knee problem, played 45 minutes for the development squad against Fulham on Thursday but is unlikely to figure against the Potters.

Terry is still lacking match sharpness and the game against Arsenal next week is a more realistic target.

Benitez has no fresh injury worries following the midweek defeat to Swansea but Petr Cech is again ruled out with a groin problem, so Ross Turnbull will continue in goal.

The Blues are also without John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses, who are away at the African Nations Cup.
