Chelsea are reported to be lining up a £15million January swoop for Marseille striker Loic Remy.
Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo is keen to draft in a new striker and is ready to turn to Remy after refusing to meet Atletico Madrid's asking price for Radamel Falcao.
The 25-year-old would cost significantly less and Di Matteo sent scouts to watch him in action at the weekend as Marseille fought out a 2-2 draw with Paris St Germain.
The France international is under contract until 2015 but that will not stop Chelsea from concluding a deal if they meet Marseille's asking price when the window re-opens.
Tottenham and Newcastle have also been linked and there is sure to be plenty of interest if he becomes available.
