Blues linked with shock striker swoop

Last Updated: Thu, 19 Dec 2013 07:25

Chelsea are being linked with a shock swoop for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain in the January transfer window.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a new striker next month as his current crop of forwards continue to squander chances and Higuain has emerged as a target.

The Argentina international only joined Napoli in the summer from Real Madrid in a deal worth £34million and he has hit the ground running with 12 goals so far.

However Napoli still failed to make the knockout stages of the Champions League and reports claim Chelsea could sense an opportunity to lure him away.

Mourinho knows him well from his time in charge of Real Madrid but a reunion still looks unlikely at this stage.
