Blues locked in Robinho talks

ChelseaChelsea are still locked in talks with Real Madrid over a deal to sign Robinho and face a race against time to land the Brazilian.

The Blues are keen to land the player but it seems as though the whole deal hinges on whether Real can land Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United as his replacement.

Chelsea will keep plugging away though and chief executive Peter Kenyon says there is still time to hammer out a deal.

Kenyon told the club's website: "One of the key issues over buying Robinho has always been that Real Madrid are looking for a replacement. It is fair to say that is what has been holding up discussion between the two clubs.

"It has not progressed over the last couple of days but the window is open until the end of August so there is still plenty of time to run."
