Chelsea are weighing up a swoop for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno as Jose Mourinho attempts to find a successor for Ashley Cole.
The 21-year-old has already attracted plenty of attention for his form for Sevilla, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid also known to be showing an interest in the talented youngster.
Cole has been omitted from the Blues starting line-up for the last two games after Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction with the England international's performance in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
Right-back Cesar Azpilicueta was deployed in his place ahead of Ryan Bertrand against Schalke and West Brom, with the Blues boss said to be questioning the 24-year-old's credentials to take over in the long-term from Cole.
Mourinho said: "Azpilicueta is playing very well. Let's see what happens next week, but he played well against Schalke and he played very well again with zero mistakes.
"I didn't like his [Cole's] performance against Newcastle so made a change and the answer from Azpi was good and I didn't feel I had any reason to leave him out."
Cole though is determined to force his way back into his manager's thinking as he looks to secure his place in England's World Cup squad travelling to Brazil next summer.
However, his days at Stamford Bridge would appear to be numbered if a deal can be thrashed out for Moreno in the new year, with Sevilla thought to be looking for a fee in the region of £20m.
