Chelsea are reported to have won the race to sign Dutch international Marco Van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been tracking the 20-year-old, who impressed at the European Under 21 Championships in Israel this summer, and a deal appears to be on the verge of going through.
Reports claim that Chelsea have already agreed a fee with the Dutch side and have also convinced the player to turn down other clubs in favour of Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is thought to have given Van Ginkel assurances over his first-team opportunities next season at the club and has told him youth will be given a chance.
Van Ginkel is thought to be one of the hottest young prospects in European football and Mourinho will be delighted to have beaten off the competition to do a deal.
