Cech clear on main title contenders

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes this season's Premier League title race is already virtually down to just three teams.

Cech can't see past the Blues, Manchester United and reigning champions Manchester City for the crown despite the 2012/13 campaign only being 11 games old.

The heavyweight trio have opened up a four-point gap on the rest of the chasing pack, and the experienced stopper now feels it's just a case of who can hold their nerve the longest, in the battle for English football's most coveted prize.

Chelsea have enjoyed a great start to the season and, despite a recent wobble, Cech is optimistic about their chances of rising back to the top of the pile with 27 games left to play.

He said: "The Manchester clubs have been consistent in getting points. We have lost some points, as they did at the start of the season, so it looks like we will be the three teams that will chase the title.

"But let's not forget the others, as every game is difficult. We can drop points against any team and the most consistent team will win.

"It's not a huge problem as we are still at the start of the season, but any advantage you give to Manchester City or Man United is something they can use in the future."
