Cech happy to stay put

Last Updated: Tue, 02 Sep 2014 16:03

Petr Cech has expressed his happiness at his decision to stay with Chelsea after being linked with a deadline day move.

Speculation on Monday indicated that the experienced goalkeeper could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge after losing his position as Jose Mourinho's No 1 to Thibaut Courtois.

Ligue 1 sides Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Cech for the majority of the summer, while reports on transfer deadline day claimed the 32-year-old had been offered to Queens Park Rangers on loan.

However, Cech decided that rather than leave, he would stay and fight it out with Courtois for the No 1 jersey in west London, and later revealed on Twitter he was happy to still be a Chelsea player.

He Tweeted: "Blue is the colour ! " ... It hasn't changed... ;-) have a good night everyone."
