Cech shrugs off Roma mauling

NewsPetr Cech says Chelsea still firmly believe they can win a Champions League and Premier League double despite the 3-1 defeat at Roma.

The Blues goalkeeper made the statement following his side's worst defeat in European competition for eight years at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday evening. Cech claims defensive errors led to their downfall in Italy and is adamant that Luiz Felipe Scolari's men have the confidence to achieve their season ambition of domestic and European glory.

Chelsea still sit in the driving seat to win Group A and qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. However it is very tight as Roma and Bordeaux are just one point behind, with CFR Cluj a further two points away in fourth.

On the domestic front Blackburn are up next at Ewood Park on Sunday and Cech says it is imperative for the players to bounce back quickly with a win.

The Czech Republic international said: "We have another game against Blackburn in the week and this is the first one to come.

"We need to bounce back. We are top of the league and we want to stay there.

"This is the first opportunity to forget Roma and I think this team has been playing so well so far that we have the confidence.

"We know we can go far in all the competitions and one game in Roma can't change that."

Punters looking to use their £10 free bet might feel Chelsea could use the setback in Roma as a springboard to go on a long unbeaten run in both major competitions.
