Chelsea are hoping to pip Bayer Leverkusen to the signing of Hamburg midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
The 20-year-old is widely expected to leave the Imtech Arena this summer after Hamburg narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga, and the race is hotting up for his signature.
Leverkusen have claimed they were in talks with the Turkey international and were reported to be close to completing a £10million deal.
However, news on a move to the Bay Arena for Calhanoglu has cooled of late and a host of sides from England have now thrown their hats into the ring.
Arsenal and Liverpool have previously been linked with the midfielder, and they have now be joined by Chelsea, who reportedly view Calhanoglu as a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard.
