Chelsea scout Piet De Visser has admitted that PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali is interesting the Blues.
The 17-year-old Belgian Under-21 international has been a revelation in Holland this season after stepping up to the PSV first team on a regular basis.
Chelsea and Arsenal are understood to have been monitoring his progress for over a year with Blues scout De Visser, who also has links to PSV, confirming this today.
"I cannot say anything about Bakkali, but he's on Chelsea's scouting list," said De Visser, who helped bring Lucas Piazon to Stamford Bridge.
Bakkali has a contract through to July 2015 and PSV are already making every effort to sign the winger to a long-term extension, but the Dutch club accept that they will have to sell the player if he can not be persuaded to stay on.
PSV's technical director Marcel Brands wants Bakkali to at least sign a one-year extension before he turns 18 before discussing a longer deal at the conclusion of the current season.
However, if an extension can't be agreed it is thought Brands may be willing to look at substantial offers for Bakkali.
