Chelsea to miss out on target

Last Updated: Mon, 20 Mar 2017 13:16

Chelsea’s hopes of landing Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain this summer have been dashed by the player's agent.

Blues boss Antonio Conte was thought to be on the trail of the talented midfielder, along with rivals Manchester United and both Juventus and Inter Milan from Serie A, but they all look set to be disappointed.

Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, has revealed the 24-year-old, who has made 32 appearances this season, scoring twice along the way, is in no rush to leave France or PSG until his contract is up.

"Marco Verratti will continue at PSG," Di Campli told Italian news agency Nansa. "He has a contract until 2021. He will stay in France. There is no doubt because he is a respectful person with contracts.

"Afterwards, if PSG ask us to leave, we will leave. It's [too] soon to speak about a return to Italy."
