Chelsea track Dutch defender

Chelsea are among the clubs to be linked with a summer swoop for Ajax central defender Joel Veltman.

Chelsea along with Manchester City, United and Arsenal are all keen to bolster their defensive options when the transfer window opens for business at the end of this campaign.

De Telegraaf in the Netherlands claims they are all set to battle it out to try and snap up 22-year-old Veltman.

The young stopper has impressed for Ajax this season since returning from a knee injury in October and he has also forced his way into the Dutch national team in the past 12 months.

However Ajax, who already have Veltman tied down to a contract until summer 2017, are looking to extend that in order to be certain of securing the best transfer fee for his signature should he be lured away.
