Defender set to miss Spurs visit

Chelsea are unlikely to have Branislav Ivanovic to call on against Tottenham tomorrow as he is struggling with a thigh problem.

The defender picked up the injury during the Blues' 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday and is rated as a major doubt for the clash by acting manager Roberto Di Matteo.

However, his absence for the visit of Spurs is offset by the return of club captain John Terry after he was forced to sit out the midweek encounter due to a calf strain.

The England international has trained fully since Thursday and is set to go straight back into the starting line-up as Di Matteo's men look to bounce back from that setback to City.

Oriol Romeu is also in contention for a place in the squad after recovering from a knee injury to bolster the Italian's options for a game which Chelsea badly need to win to keep alive their Champions League qualification hopes.
