Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has Benfica winger Angel Di Maria and Brazilian Alex Teixeira on his New Year shopping list.

Chelsea will be able to move when the transfer window opens after Fifa's ban was temporarily lifted and Di Maria and Teixeira head a long list of possible targets.

Also thought to be on the list are Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi and Spain striker David Villa, who is wanted by just about everyone at the top end of the Premiership.

New chief executive Ron Gourlay has revealed money is available to spend although he is aware that January is not the best time to buy players.

He said: "We have the money if we decide we want to spend it but the right player's got to be available. We have one of the strongest pools of players out there. I think we're in a good position but if we need to buy and we can buy, then we will.

"Even so January is a tricky time to buy."
