Duo target Blues swoop

Newcastle and Man City look set to go head to head for Chelsea star Shaun Wright-Phillips this summer if he decides to move on.

The England international winger made his name with the Blues under Kevin Keegan which has seen both City and the Magpies credited with an interest in the 26-year-old who cannot spend another season out of the spotlight.

However, Chelsea's managerial changes could see Wright-Phillips sit tight, while he is unlikely to return to Eastlands if Sven-Goran Eriksson gets a reprieve from Thaksin Shinawatra and keeps his job.

Wright-Phillips played for England under Eriksson but his father, former Arsenal star Ian Wright, was extremely critical when he was left out of the Swede's 2006 World Cup squad.

All of which would seem to put Keegan in pole position if Wright-Phillips decides to call time on his Chelsea career.
