Werder Bremen have confirmed their interest in re-signing Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro following a successful loan spell last term.

The Peru international enjoyed a successful campaign with the German Bundesliga outfit and it now looks like they will step up their efforts to tie up a permanent swoop for his services.

Pizarro's future at Stamford Bridge looks unclear and he is due to hold talks with club officials next week. However, Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs is confident of taking him back to the Weserstadion.

He told kicker-Sportmagazin: "We are intensively working on having him here for the new season and potentially also for more than just the new campaign.

"He is a great striker and has shown what he can do for the club."
