Keeper waits on future

Last Updated: Thu, 31 Oct 2013 07:23

Thibaut Courtois says he is loving life at Atletico Madrid but where his future lies depends entirely on Chelsea.

The Belgian international is enjoying another successful spell with Atletico after finding himself somewhat surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

However, Blues manager Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Courtois and sees the 21-year-old having a bright future in the Premier League.

For now the goalkeeper himself is happy at the Vicente Calderon and has not stated whether he will be with Atletico for the long haul.

Courtois told Sportium: "This year I wanted to stay at Atletico because I wasn't sure if I would play at Chelsea. Besides, I was excited to play in the Champions League with Atletico and wanted to be a starter with a view towards the World Cup.

"But now everything depends on Chelsea. I had a conversation with Mourinho and decided it was best to stay here.

"I belong to Chelsea, but Atletico are the most important club of my life. I've got titles and prestige in a short time."
