Jose Mourinho will reportedly attempt to sign Benfica's Serbia international striker Lazar Markovic for Chelsea in the January window.
The Blues boss had been interested in the highly-rated 21-year-old during the summer, but Benfica won the race to take him to Portugal from Partizan Belgrade on a five-year deal.
It was thought Mourinho would sign Markovic and loan him to Benfica, but the player cut out the middle man and moved to Portugal outright.
But that has not stopped the interest from Stamford Bridge and reports are claiming they will go to Benfica with a bid in the New Year and, if successful, will try to entice the youngster with an attractive financial package to move to London.
