Pompey keep tabs on Blues ace

ChelseaPortsmouth boss Harry Redknapp fears Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips could prove to be too expensive to try and sign this summer.

Redknapp is looking to add to his squad for the assault on the UEFA Cup and has previously admitted his interest in Liverpool duo Peter Crouch and Yossi Benayoun.

And now the Fratton Park chief has revealed he would love to have England international Wright-Phillips as well, although he is not holding out much hope either.

Redknapp told the Daily Star Sunday: "He'd [Wright-Phillips] be a hit here, the fans would love him. He's my type of player, but the problem is whether we can afford him and his wages.

"He will also be anxious to see how his future lies with his new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari."
