Ramires faces the axe tonight while Rafa Benitez will name Victor Moses in his new-look Chelsea side to face Nordsjaelland.
Benitez plans to field a restructured team, according to reports, with Brazilian ace Ramires to pay the penalty for his undisciplined play as the coach adopts a more defensive approach.
Benitez is also set to break up the attacking trio of Oscar, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata in favour of giving Moses a second consecutive first-team start.
The Spaniard is understood to believe that the trio are too similar to be effective as a unit and would prefer a more varied attack.
David Luiz is also set to return to the back four after missing the West Ham defeat on Saturday while Fernando Torres will get another chance to prove his doubters wrong.
Chelsea fans will have one eye on events in Donetsk as Shakhtar face Juventus in the other game in the group, knowing a draw will take both teams through and condemn the Blues to a spot in the Europa League.
