Romeu holding out for Valencia move

Midfielder Oriol Romeu says he would like to join Valencia permanently but says the final decision rests with Chelsea.

The 22-year-old is on a season-long loan at the La Liga side and he has done well in Spain, helping Valencia to the brink of a top-six finish while also playing his part in getting them to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Los Che have indicated they want the midfielder to stay next season and will approach Chelsea about a deal in the summer while the player himself admits he would be keen to remain at the Mestalla.

"I'm very happy here," he told Marca. "The latest we know is that Valencia are happy with me and they would like me to stay. I'm very comfortable here, but we'll have to wait until the end of the season.

"I still have a year on my contract and anything can happen. It's up to Chelsea to decide."

Romeu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2011 but has made just 33 appearances for the Blues in all competitions and his long-term future appears to lie elsewhere.
