Schuster pleads with Robinho

ChelseaCoach Bernd Schuster has told Robinho to ignore interest from suitors Chelsea and stay with Real Madrid "for a long time".

Brazil international Robinho confirmed on Friday he wants to quit the Spanish champions and move to Stamford Bridge - and Real reacted by revealing they would never keep a player against his wishes.

However, coach Schuster has different ideas and speaking after Sunday's Supercopa second leg against Valencia, he urged the 24-year-old flyer to snub Chelsea and fulfil all of his ambitions at the Bernabeu.

"For me, Robinho is the same player as always - he is an important player, who should be part of this project," Schuster said.

"I think that he knows that he can be successful at Real Madrid. It is a subject that you need to resolve in the best way possible, but we are all selfish and the best would be that he stays with us for a long time."

He added: "Without doubt, it's not a comfortable situation either for him or for us."
